The Artist

“I reside in Cumberland, Maine, and have been engaged in clay work since 1975.

At the age of six, my first-grade teacher, Miss Forgeron, arranged a meeting with my mother to showcase a clown drawing I had crafted. The drawing was proudly displayed, and Miss Forgeron’s admiration made me realize that my art could bring joy to others. Ever since that moment, I have been dedicated to creating art.

My background as a production potter is evident in my work, as I tend to focus on functional pottery rather than purely sculptural pieces. I find value in the process of crafting vessels such as vases, bowls, and plates. While my work maintains a sculptural essence, it always serves a practical purpose. It exudes the whimsy and naivety reminiscent of childhood, coupled with a vibrant color palette. My clay creations reflect my passion for vivid surface designs, figurative art, and humor. I draw inspiration from the artistic styles of Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Vincent van Gogh, and Henri Matisse, as well as the worlds of cartoons, animation, and drag queens.”
